Annagasse

Annagasse

On Sunday, newly met friends from Christ Church Dorothea Haspelmath-Finatti(a Lutheran pastor with a recent PhD in liturgical theology, and who teaches ecumenism for the Catholic Theological Fakultät of the UniVie) and her husband Lourenço Finatti (a fine pianist and church musician) took me to a lovely Italian restaurant on Annagasse, a pleasant walk from church. The street is named for this beautiful church – yet another opulent church in Vienna! – with its marble columns and serenely blue ceiling painting of a sky filled with cherubs. 1-19 Annakirche
The narrow street, which lets out into the Kärntner Strasse, is another feast for the eyes with Baroque buildings rebuilt over the centuries, and charming cobblestones. This is also where we saw one of the memorials “What happens when we forget to remember” stenciled on the street.
