Kristallnacht remembrance service

One of the most moving commemorations I was able to attend this past weekend, on the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht, was an ecumenical service of remembrance, confession, and lament sponsored by a coalition of Christian and Jewish-Christian organizations. The service was standing room only, and the contemporary atonal musical interludes and interspersed prayers were beautiful. After a service in the Ruprechtskirche (see my previous post on this very old and very happening church), we lit votive candles and walked in silence to the Judenplatz and laid our candles at the base of the Holocaust memorial there.
