The Hospital Where Freud Worked - now the UniVie

Yesterday I went to the main campus of the University to attend (briefly) a lecture on interdisciplinary cognitive-science approaches to art history and musicology. The campus has taken over the buildings that once were Vienna’s Allgemeine Krankhaus (the “AKH”), the general hospital where Freud and many others trained and worked. The classrooms are all renovated and the campus overall has a very modern feel, but there are still reminders of the multi-courtyard structure of the hospital, its plazas, trees and statues, which Freud would have passed through every day on his way to his lab.
