Bern Clock Tower (Zytglogge)

Bern Clock Tower (Zytglogge)

On Saturday we had a chance to watch the famous Bern clock strike the hour, and mechanical figures came to life, charming children and visitors. The clock was built in 1530 and remains a monument to early Reformation days in the city. (Bern was pronounced Protestant by decree in 1528, following the example of Zwingli’s reforms in Zurich and elsewhere.) For more on the clock see the web site: http://www.bern.com/en/city-of-bern/attractions/clock-tower.
