A real highlight of my trip to Budapest was lunch at the Csobolyó home in the village of Dunavarsany. This is a traditionally decorated living/dining room. The house was built by Eszter’s father and family. The mom is recently retired as a local school teacher. The home exuded warmth and hospitality, and the lunch was better than any Hungarian restaurant: broth poured over chicken and vegetables, then a sweet-tart cherry soup, followed by Beef Paprikash over noodles, and traditional dessert pancakes filled with cottage cheese. Needless to say, I didn’t need to eat again for a long time!
