Sunday we went to church in Dunavarsány, where a young woman pastor was the guest preacher. The church is fairly new also, with beautiful traditional decorations. The pastor’s wife, also a pastor, welcomed me and I was able to bring greetings to the congregation from Columbia Seminary. The boys in the front row in the small picture are some of the Scouts – Eszter is the scout leader (ages from 6 to 60’s!) as part of her leadership role in the church. Eszter is serving as a pastoral assistant, or post-MDiv internship, at the Church and hopes to be ordained in another year or two. Her doctorate is a JD, and she is a fully qualified lawyer as well as having her theological degree. She spent a semester studying with us at Columbia Seminary, which she loved. Prior to ordination she is seeking ways to use her legal skills and church/social service background.
