Kürtőskalács Festival!

Kürtőskalács Festival!

And now for something completely different…! Eszter and Kati took me to a traditional fall festival, the Kürtőskalács Festival, in the heart of Pest. The evening was beautiful, mild, with a lovely half moon overhead. Rock music, vendors, and the centerpiece of the festival: Kürtőskalács, or chimney cakes, which are rolls of yeasty dough covered with sugar, rolled around a large wooden roller, and roasted over an open fire. Pretty yummy! I had mine rolled in cocoa. Foodies: check it out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCrt%C5%91skal%C3%A1cs.
