Lánchíd (Chain) Bridge, Budapest

Budapest is known as a city of bridges. The city is actually made up of two cities, Buda and Pest, divided by the Donau, and now has 8 bridges. This bridge, the Chain Bridge, is the oldest and most famous, built in 1849, blown up in WWII, and rebuilt in 1949. It is festooned proudly with Hungarian banners. Since I arrived in the late afternoon, my first outing with Eszter was an evening walk to the Donau, and across this iconic bridge.
