The Landtmann Cafe – Freud’s favorite

The Landtmann Cafe - Freud's favorite

Very near my classroom building is the famous Landtmann Café, Freud’s favorite. Among the old established coffee houses, at the turn of the 20th century it hosted Karl Kraus, Freud and his circle, and other social and cultural critics. Today it is known as a place where government officials (and one person said “all the spies”) hang out – as well as immaculately dressed middle aged women, men in their Loden quilted jackets and tweed, and tourists with a taste for better food than McDonald’s Café around the corner! This is where you’d take your parents if your parents lived here!
