Fulbright Offices, Vienna

Fulbright Offices, Vienna

Arrived Monday Sept. 16 and began Fulbright Orientation the next morning. Not enough coffee in the world to re-set my internal clock! We got the first, obligatory “drink from a firehose” about how to register our residency (everyone in Vienna must carry an officially stamped “Meldezettel” showing where you live), opening a bank account, getting internet, etc. Very interesting group of people in my Fulbright cohort – 11 professors, and about 50 students both undergrad and graduate. Several are studying in areas of related interest, including psychoanalysis, art, and music. Some will stay on in Vienna, and about 1/2 of the professors will be moving out to Graz, Innsbruck and other Austrian locations. A fascinating, smart bunch of people! The Fulbright staff are wonderful, wry, and helpful!
